The exemption of the 7.5% Basic Customs Duty (BCD) on major petrochemical products including PVC—which had been implemented since April 2, 2026, to stabilize the supply and demand of petrochemical raw materials in India amid global supply chain disruptions caused by the Middle East war—ended as of July 15 without any further extension.
As a result, a 7.5% BCD began to be reimposed on cargo imported from July 16. The items subject to the exemption included major polymers such as PVC, PE, PP, PS, and ABS, as well as key basic chemicals and intermediates like Toluene, Styrene, and Methanol.
중동 전쟁으로 인한 글로벌 공급망 차질 속에서 인도 내 석유화학 원자재 수급을 안정시키기 위해 지난 2026년 4월 2일부터 시행되어 온 PVC 등 주요 석유화학 제품의 기본관세 7.5% 면제 조치가 추가 연장 없이 7월 15일부로 종료되었다.
이에 따라 7월 16일 이후 인도에 수입되는 화물부터는 7.5%의 기본관세가 다시 부과되기 시작했다. 이번 관세 면제 대상 품목은 PVC를 비롯해 PE, PP, PS, ABS 등의 주요 폴리머류와 톨루엔, 스타이렌, 메탄올 등 주요 기초 화학물질 및 중간체이다.
